English Patch Discussion - Stage 6 finally released!!!

Postby iamjoe on Sun Oct 02, 2005 7:43 am

Since my other post got off topic I'll make a new thread. Please keep in topic.

Well stage 3 of my patch is done and ready for your suggests or corrections. Once all is agreed, I will release this patch. Screenshots on my website.

http://joenetpc.com

Also I have decided to do as much as I can in translating the game. My next stage is wrestler names. Why wrestler names? Well I found after renaming all the referees, The memory card saves the ref names too so if you use your past rename save the ref's names will still be in Japanese. I found the coding and figured out how to rename the wrestlers and I have almost finished New Japan already.

Well let me know and I'l release the first patch.

it's looking good, but a few suggestions. I feel you should use "Barbed Wire" as opposed to "Barb Wire". Barbed wire just makes more sense to me (plus Barb Wire reminds me of that stupid ass Pamela Lee movie). Also for the battle royals you have SWA rules listed, shouldn't that be the "Endless" battle royal where even eliminated wrestlers stay?

DM, I think you're looking at the "stage 2" screenshots still. The "stage 3" screenshots have "barbed wire" and the "steal cage" typo fixed.

Looking great iamjoe! Thanks for your time and effort.

DarthMutt is correct about the battle royal part though.

Looking good, my only suggestion would be to work on Translating the EDIT MODE menu's before translating the move names or wrestler names. Just a suggestion. Thank you.

CAWEvo, If you look at the area, theres not enough room for Barbed Wire thats why it's barb wire and lights instead of lighttubes.

Besides there is no correct answer that I could find. if you go to http://www.hardcorehomecoming.com and click on media it says "Funk gets cut out of the BARBWIRE!" and "Dramatic No-Rope Barbwire Entrances", Etc... So thats three ways. Barb Wire, Barbwire, Barbed Wire. So who knows.

About the battle royal part. I know it's called Endless in Japanese but personally I think it's a bad name. Endless means never ends but the match does end at a point. And it is too long to put eliminated wrestlers never leave so I figured SWA Rules would do.

You mean you aren't bothering with changing the pointers? Have fun putting the special skills in...

Unless you want me to do it later.

Davey, if you mean the barb wire part, What I mean is that box isn't big enough. There's plenty of room in the code to put more text. I haven't had to change any pointewrs becuase there has always been plenty of room for text. Things have been nicely seperated for what I translated so far. I wish we could hack images so we could get the main menus converted though.

I'm sure when it comes time to doing more complicated coding, I will be asking you for help, if you don't mind.

do you guys happen to have any idea of where the image files are stored? because i maybeable to decode the pak format with some help from friends, and since i am a graphic artist i can redo them. Just need to find out which file it is.

Theyre all located in FPR.ROM.

The problem is I personally have tried to extract the file but havent been able to find a program to do so.

Inside the ROM file you can find stuff such as...
AIKOH\DATABASE.BIN
AIKOH\COSTUME.BIN
AIKOH\WRESTLER.BIN
AIKOH\BGM\

Theres a good amount of potential for editing images and music if someone can extract the ROM file.

This looks amazing. I gave up and memorizing the match settings, and your saving me a good portion of memory; thanks for your work. The community makes this game so much better.

I also think that everyone would benefit more from a translated edit mode - edits would get done much faster, and be more understood by the novice player (ME).

P.S. I'm ready for the release when you are :D

The only think I could see is that 3 knockouts needed to be capitalized to 3 Knockouts. Pretty minor and petty, but just something I noticed. Other than that, great job on this, thanks.

I am in the agreement that translating edit mode should be done before renaming all of the edits.

Since it is in demand I have decided to join the wrestler edit with Stage 4. The wrestler names is all cut and paste so it's easy so I'll join the wrestler edit.

So is everyone ready for the stage 3 patch?
