First one to import?

Postby pugsarecool on Mon Jun 18, 2012 2:45 am

Hey guys. It's certainly been a while. I've finally decided to start importing, and figured this was the place I could get the best help. What Japanese wrestling game should I import first (beyond the realm of N64)? I'm basically asking as a beginner sort of thing. Some I have been considering are: KOC Red, Green or II, or one of the Wrestle Kingdoms. Any input is greatly appreciated. If I should get more than one at once, let me know.

Thanks,

Pugs

I have KOC II and Wrestle Kingdom I & II, and I've had the most fun with Wrestle Kingdom II.

Sweet man, I'll defo look into getting that one then. What made it win over KoC?

I prefer the gameplay of Wrestle Kingdom to KOC. Fire Pro takes care of all of my simming needs, so I never got into that aspect of KOC. Also, WK looks a hell of a lot better. I have noticed that my opinion is in the minority around here though. I suggest you watch some YouTube videos and see what looks more appealing to you.

I'd recommend collecting in this order:
KoC2
FPR
WK2
ASPW3

Personally, I can't recommend KOC II enough. Even after over 2 years of owning the game I'm still in awe when I play or sim a match. It really does provide an authentic puroresu experience. I'm still discovering new things all the time in this game, I still come across a new counter every once in a while, even after more than 2 years of owning the game, which really adds to the replay value, as well as the loads of unlockable wrestler and MMA templates. And the A.I is just incredible. The epics I've played and simmed in this game are untouched by anything elese, including IMO FPR. I highly recommend it. I'd recommend FPR second though, as it is well worth owning as well, although technically it's no longer really an "import" since there's a North American version. Here's a link to an awesome review of KOC II that Sonnybone wrote up a few years ago. This is the review that convinced me to fork out the cash for this game: The actual site the review was originally posted on no longer exists, so I used archive.org to get it.

I really liked Champion Wrestler: Jikkyou Raibu, for PS1. It plays exactly like firepro but with minor quirks. I got it just recently off ebay for around $15.
Do not use on cats. Also, I didn't see Mike Awesome in the list!

Ah I forgot about that game.

What was the game for SNES that played with Fire Pro, but with blockier more cartoony looking wrestlers? The wrestlers looked more like River City Ransom characters. It had the same diagonal view.
