[PS2] WWF 1985-1986 Save Pack (190+ Edits) 10-17-2011

Postby Catfish Jack on Fri Nov 14, 2008 11:04 pm

Catfish's log 10/17/11: Sorry I've been gone. Here's a new version of the WWF 1985-1986 *combined* Save Pack! (promised like months ago) I combined my WWF 1985 pack with my WWF 1986 pack in progress. It will eventually be a 1985-1989 Save Pack. The first 5 years of the WrestleMania era. Dear to my heart.

Changes to WWF 1985 Org. from the last version (revised 10/17/2011)
Spoiler: show
1. Recolored 1985 and 1986 Edits since I now use an emu. Black is 0,0,0 1,1,1 2,2,2 3,3,3. Some other colors have been tweaked.
Image

2. Replaced "Panasonic" logo from WWF 1985 Save Pack with the second "WrestleMania" logo I made for the 1986 Save Pack.
Image

3. Revised Moveset/Logic for 21 Edits: The Assassin, B. Brian Blair, Big John Studd, Bobby Heenan, Bret Hart (heel), Corporal Kirchner, George Steele (baby & heel), Hercules, Hulk Hogan (no longer takes 45 mins to beat someone with a running leg drop), The Iron Sheik, Jesse Ventura, Jimmy Snuka, King Tonga, Moondog Rex, Moondog Spot, Paul Orndorff (heel), Paul Roma, Pedro Morales, Randy Savage and Tony Atlas.

4. Added an 8th and final Title... the Women's Tag Team Title! Another FPR-head made the belt for this Save Pack and sent me the formula. I'll post his info when I edit this thread again. I forgot now it's been so long. Sorry.
Image

5. Added a new WrestleMania ring (WM1 and WM2 are the same, just different logos).
Image

Bad-ass Manual with pics of each Edit, individualized old-school SNME-style gimmick graphics, complete Logic & Parameters, Belts, Refs, a History of 1985 WWF national tv, etc.
Spoiler: show
I finished version 1.0 on 06/03/2010. Here is the link to download the Manual: http://www.sendspace.com/file/igfz49. Click the link, go to the bottom of the page and click the link of the file name, at least that's what I do to d/l it. (Note 10/17/2011: I won't be making a manual for the 86-89 add-on Edits. Sorry. That took way too much time. That was a nice escape from a life I hated, now I'm too much in love with the world for that.)

This Save Pack currently has 3 organizations - WWF 1985, WWF 1986, and WWF 1987 (note: all default orgs are deleted/retired).

In 1985 he was a heel. He turned babyface with the green tongue and started hanging out with Ricky Steamboat in 1986.

Odd, though, is that Jimmy Valiant wrestled for the WWF briefly in 1985, and the only opponent I have found for him on record was a babyface, but I can't picture him being a heel. Of course, that's thinking of him a bit later as the ever-popular "Boogie Woogie Man" Jimmy Valiant.

Valiant wrestled mostly in 6 man tags with Beefcake and Valentine.

George Steele was a heel from 1967-May 11th 1985 when The Iron Sheik and Volkoff turned on him against the American Express.

Cool, so I can add a Heel and babyface George Steele. Perhaps Heel Steele did not have the red stripe on the tights... or the body hair. I will look into it.

I'll post some tonight after the UFC PPV.

I'm pumped about this Pack, because in getting through 1985 lies another reward: 1986! Enter Jake Roberts, the wave of Samoan/Pacific Islander wrestlers, Strike Force, The Hart Foundation, Piper turning face, Handsome then The King Harley Race, Koko B. Ware, Joe Frazier-Lou Duva-Ozzy Osbourne as seconds, let's not forget short-hair Andre in yellow, and the football has-beens from the WM2 battle royal... the best is yet to come!

Strike Force

Awesome! This sounds like a fun pack. One thing though for your 1986 pack, The Can-Am Connection(Martel/Zenk) came in like Oct/Nov 1986 on a trial basis while still working All Japan and were in the WWF full time by Jan. 1987. Stirke Force(Martel/Santanta) started in the summer/fall of 1987 after Zenk quit over contract issues. So from a year by year basis the Can-Am's could be in your '86 pack, but not Strike Force. Just a friendly FYI. Can't wait for the pics.

That's who I meant... dang, you guys are keeping me straight. I need to reference my WWF master Excel file before I post again, haha.

Strike Force will be in 1987 through 1989. They lasted way longer than the Can-Am Connection, but the Can-Am's had cooler boots.

Couple things. Didn't Hogan have white trunk in 85? Also, can we expect and logos?

Some other things. You don't have to worry about a 88 pack since Rev did a fine job on one. Also, maybe we should make like a front page topic with ALL of the WWF years up to like 2000 or so. Maybe we can get it stickied so that people might be able to stop asking/requesting anything from these eras.

Other than that, hope to check it out soon and good job.

It appears Hogan did wear white, but wore his trademark red & yellow at and before WrestleMania I in March of '85, but I'll include it as an alternate attire (each edit will have at least 2 attires, his other edits will have the shirt and headband, teal blue and white, etc.). I also changed Andre's hair to short, which is why I picked a different head than his default, so I could have both versions on my memory card, but I will include just the short-haired Andre in the pack.

This pack won't have any logos, I haven't tried the editor yet, and the few times I tinkered with it I had a hell of a time just getting to a point in a menu where I could exit. I use your logos, as well as Revs for myself, but the only one I "might" try is the Philly Spectrum logo, which I think would look sweet in the ring because, aside from MSG, that was a huge WWF stop.

Thanks for the suggestions/comments. That's why I am running this pack by the experts first! Also, in watching their old matches to refresh my moveset/logic knowledge per edit, I am finding out things I may have overlooked initially (Ricky Steamboat's odd white shorts, knee pads, and boots attire).

I forgot about Rev's 88 pack. I think a frontpage post with a roster would be sweet as, within a few more packs, WWF 85 to 2000 will definitely be covered. Good idea!

Ok I hate to correct people. But George Steele was a heel at the start of 85. He mostly did 6 man tags with the Sheik & Volckoff. But they Turned on him @ the 1st Saturday Night Main Event & he became a face Managed by Lou Albano.

Also Jimmy Valent was not in the WWF in 1985 he was working for the Crockets. It was JOHNNY VALENT that was teaming up with Beefcake & Valentine.

True dat.

Sadly, I remember 1985 like it was yesterday. Steele went face in 85. By Wrestlemania 2 (March 86), he was already embroiled in a feud with Randy Savage.

Nonetheless, I'll be downloading this pack. The edits look great. I really like Studd.

No problem, that's why I put this out here at the pre-launch phase, but after I had enough appearances, results, etc. to see if there was interest and to kind of beta test my rosters/appearances/etc. If you point out an error that everyone who downloads the pack would have to change themselves, you have made the product that much better/accurate.

You are correct, the first SNME was in May 85, so it was like half a year heel, half a year face. I will include two versions, heel and face, like I am doing with Paul Orndorff.

From what I researched, it seems there was some confusion as to who uncle Elmer wrestled in October 1985 at SNME... some reports had Jimmy Valiant (in case it was, I made an edit, but thus far appearance only), Johnny Valiant (who I already had pegged for Second and Ring attire), and Jerry Valiant (haha, who!?!). Thank you for confirming, also, I had to find footage to actually see for myself. It was Johnny V.

So, that makes 70 edits even, instead of 71 without Jimmy Valiant, who never stepped foot in the WWF during said time period. Works out better for all. I will update the photo and roster section above to reflect this change.

Again, if you note anything else that might be missing or could be better (appearance/movesets when I post them, etc.) let me know!

The Guy that Uncle Elmer wrestles at SNME in Oct 85 was "Gentlemen" Jerry Valiant. Elmer beat him in 6 seconds breaking Bundy's record. Jerry Valiant was introduced in early 1979 as a replacement for the injured Jimmy Valiant. He & Johnny went on to win the WWF Tag Titles from Tony Garea & Larry Zbyszko & lose them later on that year to Ivan Putski & Tito Santana. Jerry Valiant bounced around after that but was never matching that sucess & returned to the WWF in the early 80's & used primarly as a jobber.
