It's sad that people who are just now discovering this game are ending up at "far less than awesome" communities elsewhere. It's the one thing that bugs me most about the FPC.

I couldn't agree with you more, tkatt. I wouldn't mind an estimate as to how long the updates are going to take. People are promoting, but nothing is happening because the site registration is down.

It's really baffling when you consider that there is new Fire Pro game coming out.

1) There isn't a new firepro game coming out.
2) People who are just now finding FPR are not, i'm sad to say, priority. Even the US version is 2 years old and has been off the shelves for quite some time. I'm sure it's still available in some used game bins at random gamestops but c'mon. This isn't some Anti-New Member movement or anything but causing more damage to things behind-the-scenes is not what we want or need.
3) The issue is nothing on the boards. Obviously things are working fine but over the years we've changed some things and converted some things and that has made a bit of a mess on the server. When it's all fixed we'll let you know. Usually when we try to fix things in the database and other things on the server the site gets all crazy so the fact that the work being done isn't breaking anything is what we need. I wish it was done now but it's not.
4) When everything is done (or at least looks like it is...) a few things will get updated and a few changes will be made and THEN registration will re-open. There are plenty of game sites out there, including ones about wrestling games featuring many similar members to here, that people can use in the meantime. I'm glad people prefer the FPC but this isn't the only site in the world where you can talk about firepro. This is a free, ad-free site. Nobody makes any money off it, it's done out of love for Firepro. Like most of you, HP and I have jobs and personal responsiblities and that takes priority over fixing things at the FPC. Things get fixed when they get fixed. That's just the way it is and if someone has a problem with that then they probably won't fit in around here anyways.

When registration is open, you'll know.

There's not? I mean, I can't really count Avatar WrestleMax as a FirePro game yet, but they seem to be slapping the title on it.

I know you don't have ads on the forum (gratefully). But I'm sure the front page gets a good amount of traffic as well, and you two might as well make some money from it. FPC is always your number one google hit for most any fire pro related search, so you should bank on that with a redesigned front page and some ads on it.

I'm always willing to help out if there's anything I can do for the web-side of things. I'd be glad to help out if you have any database issues and want to ask a question about it or just need someone to research it. If you need some stuff coded or redesigned, let me know. If you two don't have the time for a lot of your ideas, I might have the time to help you reach them quicker. Let me know what you want and I can take a crack at it. I don't produce FirePro-based content, I just help the community in other ways. Because, sure this isn't the only place to talk about FirePro, but guess what, I don't really talk about FirePro. I just enjoy the atmosphere around here.

Also it would be awesome if the Database work you were doing and the reason new registrations are closed is because your pruning out the non-existent members with 0-ish post count. I could then understand the length of time to do it considering the number of those the DB has to be filled with. Sure it's might be kind of a pointless thing to do...but wow what a clean member list there would be.

The inactive, spam-generated users are a big issue and yes a lot of them are going to be gone but it's going to take a while to skim through them. The problem with them is that just because someone doesn't post doesn't mean they don't use the account. Someone may be a daily login but has never made a post. Some people just don't feel like they have anything to contribute so I can't in good faith delete their account. Basically they have to be gone through one at a time and there are a LOT of zero-post-count users and thousands of accounts, accumulated over the years, that were registered by bots and never activated that also need to be gone through.

I can say with 99% certainty that there will never be ads on this site. Obviously the thought is there but as other forums have found it's just not worth it. Think of all the things that get posted on this site, could you imagine the ads we'd generate on pages where we're talking about goose molestation??

As for the alleged firepro game, well, when it's revealed a bit more and keeps the FP name i'll call it a firepro game but as it stands right now it's using FP as a placeholder title and resembles no FP game in any way.

Yeah, I understand what your saying, which is why I said I can understand the length of time. It wouldn't be based totally on 0-count users. It'd have to be based on account activity as well. Checking post count versus last login date on each individual account would take a while. Though you should be able to run a query on it against both columns, get the ids via export and text editing, then delete row query where id equals. On the bots, couldn't you run a query on the "activated" column? I'm not familiar with how phpbb sets up it's database so I'm pulling at strings here.

That's why I was saying only the front page. I doubt any regular forum member ever accesses it, and it would only be people just being curious. You'd pick up a few dollars in a years time to put towards hosting costs.

I'm sorry for not posting as much but I LOVE my account and being a member here, There's a lot of boards here and I have industrial injuries that keep's me from wanting to type, and I just got into this great game and sim 100% of my games btw, I love the AI's the games have, but I'm a member of NMZ and me and a few friends have been working on several saves. I'm the moveset man and they do all the modding, and it's been nearly a year and there's still a lot of work to do, so please don't delete my account, and I thank the gentlemen I'm quoting 'cause that exactly what I do. I understand updates take time not sure if they take eight months but I won't judge especially considering I have done programming in my college classes and I understand that you can under-estimate how long it will take you to do something and when you fix one problem it can create more problems.


I is just that there are people on other forums that are getting the wrong impression of this site because of the new membership freeze. I offer to get them saves from the site but it is just inconvenient for them because it sometimes takes me a few days because I am busy with college and work so it takes me a day or two for me to get the saves for them.
