NuVu: Seventh Showing of Lucky Lions

Image

The show opens in a sombre mood without pyro or fanfare, the house lights simply come up on a suited Sammy Kong standing in the centre of the ring with mic in hand...
Kong: "Good evening ladies and gentlemen, as you will no doubt know by now both the last NuVu event and the last W.E.W event were marred by brutal attacks from unknown assailants on a couple of our brightest stars. I'd like to begin the show with a couple of announcements."
"Firstly that Bunta Saito has now been discharged from hospital, he suffered a minor concussion and required a total of 25 stitches in his head and forearm, he is making a good recovery and our medical staff will be assessing him to see if he is fit to wrestle at W.E.W #11. Secondly we've been unable to contact or get any updates on the status of Kozuki Shiimosa, he is still scheduled to wrestle on tonight's card but it may be that his no-show is... inevitable."
"W.E.W has begun internal investigations to try and track down the assailants but in the mean time we need to take steps to both protect our talent and to ensure the show goes on, in such circumstances it would be irresponsible and potentially inflammatory to crown a new champion and so, with that in mind, Kozuki Shiimosa's claim to the title is annulled, the championship scramble WILL continue and, in good time, the winner of the scramble's resultant tournament will be crowned champ."

(The crowd has a mixed reaction; some boos, lots of murmuring)

"I also have an announcement concerning the rules and regulations of NuVu's matches, I'm pleased to announce that in light of the growth and development of our talent we will be extending the time limits of all singles matches to 30 minutes, with the exception of league matches which will remain 20 minutes long, and that we will be extending the time limits of all tag matches to 45 minutes with the exception of league matches which will remain 30 minutes."
"...And so without further ado please enjoy the show!"

(Finally the pyro kicks off, the theme tune blares out, and the crowd loosen up and cheer)

Opening Match: Phil Fernandez vs. Naoki Masayuki
Match 2: Tarozaemon Tsuda vs. Sanjiro Katashi
Match 3: Elliot Kingsley & Minehito Kono vs. Alfredo & Alfonso Alvarez
Match 4: Miguel Ozuna vs Targa Mishi (block A)
Match 5: Goro Hamada vs HANSAMU (block B)
Match 6: Claus Eurhoffen vs Kozuki Shiimosa
Main Event: Michael Becker vs Daiji Shimazaki (block A)

MATCH CAN BE SEEN HERE: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WEw_CCuPOiA

RESULTS & HAPPENINGS (spoilers!)
Spoiler: show
Opening Match: Naoki Masayuki def. Phil Fernandez at 20:03 via reverse implant DDT, 100%
A match featuring some nice high spots, in which Phil really didn't want to leave his feet.

Match 2:
Sanjiro Katashi def. Tarozaemon Tsuda at 20:49 via Wrist Clutch Exploder, 100%
What a war! It was a brutal elbow-apocalypse.

Match 3: Alfredo Alvarez (& Alfonso Alvarez) def. Minehito Kono (& Elliot Kinglsey) at 34:12 via Rydeen Bomb, 89%
The brothers working well together to dominate.

Match 4: Miguel Ozuna vs Targa Mishi (block A), 20 minute draw, 76%
A match that had the fans clamouring for more.

Match 5: HANSAMU def. Goro Hamada at 16:42 via strikes, 93% (block B)
HANSAMU showing you can never count him out, he mounts a spectacular comeback using his lightning fast range of flashy technical moves and ends up out striking the striker for the win.

Segment 1: We cut to the back where Sammy Kong is speaking with backstage staff,
Kong: "Still no sign of Shiimosa-san?"
Staff: "No sir, no sign of him and no word from him!"
Kong: "Well as I said this all felt rather... inevitable." Kong pushes open a locker room door where we see a young re-invigorate talent, Nagisa Mizoguchi (currently working with Zero-One), "Looks like you're on Mizoguchi-san."

A sudden kerfuffle is heard outside, including the screeching of tyres, we follow from the point of view of a cmaera man shakily running down the hallways backstage and out into the carpark.

We see a modest, black saloon screech to a stop, the door is flung open, Kozuki Shiimosa steps out, already in full ring gear, as he starts walking he's unwrapping bandages from around his ribs... it looks like he's just driven here from a hospital bed!

Kong steps past the throng to see what's going on, Kozuki glares at him and stiff arms him, thudding into the corridor wall and stalks past him straight into the arena and onward to the ring!

Match 6: Kozuki Shiimosa def. Claus Eurhoffen at 13:16 via German Suplex Pin, 68%
Even the presence and light interference of the Clowns' new manager "Ring King" couldn't prevent what amounted to a ruthless squash, Kozuki's Goldberg-like unbeaten winning streak continues.

Main Event: Michael Becker def. Daiji Shimazaki at 16:30 via corkscrew moonsault, 86% (block A)
Ring King made his presence felt much more in this match which saw a real return to form for Becker as he handled the dangerous Shimazaki.

So I've gone ahead and made the changes requested by Helmar and Mantis. There'll be a brief (hopefully) pause while Wonderland gets up to speed (he's a few events behind and understandably doesn't want to see spoilers), and Carlzilla gets his changes to me and then we should be back in business. :D

NuVu: Escalating the Eighth
Image

NuVu's 8th event promises to be a blockbuster; it will see NuVu's first four-man battle royale, it sees Mishi / Ozuna 2, this time with no time limit or count outs, it will also see the first defence of the tag titles and tons of light-heavyweight league action!

Pre-NuVu#8 League Standings:
Image

Opening Match: Battle Royale
Phil Fernandez vs Daiji Shimazaki vs Elliot Kingsley vs Alfredo Alvarez
Match 2: HANSAMU vs Minehito Kono (League Block B)
This is the first time these young lions have met in any competition.
Match 3: Michael Becker vs Sanjiro Katashi (League Block A)
Historically this looks like an uphill struggle for Katashi who has lost to Becker in both singles and tag tilts in the past.
Match 4: Miguel Ozuna vs Targa Mishi 2 (No Time Limit/DQ/Count Out)
Match 5: Alfonso Alvarez vs Claus Eurhoffen (League Block B)
Main Event: Tarozaemon Tsuda & Kozuki Shiimosa vs Power Generation (Tag Title Match)
Anything could happen as these teams meet for the very first time!

Image

EVENT CAN BE SEEN HERE: http://youtu.be/3qYHsd7MEXw

Results (spoilers!)
Spoiler: show
Opening Match: Battle Royale
Alfredo Alvarez knocks out Phil Fernandez with a diving headbutt
Elliot Kinglsey knocks out Daiji Shimazaki with an assisted backdrop
Elliot Kingsley def. Alfredo Alvarez at 29:46 via Nagata Lock 3, 84%
Fred showed huge power with lots of big lifts on Phil, ha also showed heart kicking out of Parliament Gold only to fall prey to the Nagata Lock 3.
What an upset!

Match 2: Minehito Kono def. HANSAMU at 16:42 via counter drop toe hold, 93% (League Block B)
Kono just UNLOADING on HANSAMU with everything he had. Finally we see what this young lion is truly capable of!

Match 3: Michael Becker def. Sanjiro Katashi at 15:12 via rear naked choke, 73% (League Block A)
Becker creepily talks to Katashi as he puts him out. Ring King is ejected from the building for his interference and so won't be available for Claus Eurhoffen's match later tonight.

Match 4: Miguel Ozuna vs Targa Mishi def Miguel Ozuna at 20:30 via Rolling Olympic Hell, 91%
Ozuna had the better of it early on with both strikes and groundwork but Targa's tough and came back strong!

Match 5: Alfonso Alvarez drew with Claus Eurhoffen, 68% (League Block B)
Claus threw a lot of leather early on but Alfonso fought back, he could have won it but foolishly punished Claus on the outside instead.

Main Event: Goro Hamada (& Naoki Masayuki) def. Tarozaemon Tsuda (& Kozuki Shiimosa), at 31:43 via Cross-legged STF, 94% (Tag Title Match)
An outstanding match that saw Tsuda in some pain after a nasty Cross-legged STF in the ropes and also saw Shiimosa look as vulnerable as we've ever seen him! We have NEW tag team champions!

Segment 1:
After the title match a grinning Sammy Kong comes down the ramp, applauding all the way as he presents the Power Generation with the gold. All the while he is securing the belts around their waists he stares darkly at Kozuki Shiimosa who storms off to the back.
Is this truly the end of the era of inevitability?!

Trying to make RingKing was interesting:
Spoiler: show
Managers do not obey the rules for backing away and circling, they just ignore those values and go balls out.
Also they only tend to get involved meaningfully once a match (if that). So that's why he has one main trick (salt / powder toss) after that it's some weak strikes and heelish attacks.
It's a bit of a pain in the arse that managers are just attack machines!

I might try to give him an attack which links to nothing, so no move in that slot, and point logic to that to see if he'll obey and we can calm him down.

NuVu: Dressed to the Ninth

Image

NuVu 9 ramps up the heat in the championship scramble, which will see the top 4 ranked wrestlers compete in a tournament for the NuVu Heavyweight Championship; beginning at NuVu 11.
With each win being 3 points, each draw 2 points and each loss 1 point the current standings for the top 10 are below:

1 . Kozuki Shiimosa ...22 points
2 . Naoki Masayuki ...19
3 . Michael Becker ...19
4 . Tarozaemon Tsuda ...18
5 . Alfredo Alvarez ...18
6 . Targa Mishi ...18
7 . Goro Hamada ...17
8 . Alfonso Alvarez ...17
9 . HANSAMU ...16
10 . Daiji Shimazaki ...15

With that in mind NuVu 9 sees some very important scramble match-ups!

Opening Match:Claus Eurhoffen vs. Sanjiro Katashi
Claus Eurhoffen has lost to Sanjiro Katashi once before, in a 100% rated barn-burner.

Match 2: HANSAMU vs Daiji Shimazaki
HANSAMU has lost once before to his tag partner Daiji Shimazaki

Match 3: Goro Hamada vs Alfonso Alvarez (Light-Heavyweight League Block B)
These men faced one another before and fought to a draw.

Match 4: Phil Fernandez & Miguel Ozuna vs Minehito Kono & Elliot Kingsley
Elliot Kingsley & Minehito Kono met and lost to Phil Fernandez & Miguel Ozuna once before

Match 5: Alfredo Alvarez vs Targa Mishi
This will be the 1st time these men have met one-on-one.

Main Event: Kozuki Shiimosa vs Naoki Masayuki vs Michael Becker vs Tarozaemon Tsuda

EVENT CAN BE SEEN HERE: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5t9uGCO__2A

RESULTS (spoilers):
Spoiler: show
Opening Match: Sanjiro Katashi def. Claus Eurhoffen at 16:37 via Exploder, 87%
Claus endures a top rope exploder and two more back to back exploders before succumbing. Due to excessive interference Ring King was ejected from the building following this match.

Match 2: Daiji Shimazaki def. HANSAMU at 17:35 via sunset flip, 96%
Daiji unusually slowing the pace, he needed to come back with an important plancha after HANSAMU made a great start taking firm control in the early to mid-match. The tense affair saw the tag partners come to blows after the final bell!

Match 3: Goro Hamada drew with Alfonso Alvarez, 93%
(Light-Heavyweight League Block B)
Alfonso fought off two cross-legged STFs and came back with a super shiranui, both men were wasted and laying on the canvas when the bell rang for the draw. Once again nothing can separate these two men as they put on one of the most entertaining draws in wrestling history (as voted for by the fans with 93%). The draw sees Alfonso go top of Block B for the time being.

League Standings:
http://img13.imageshack.us/img13/3048/leaguepost9s.jpg

Match 4: Phil Fernandez (& Miguel Ozuna) def. Minehito Kono (& Elliot Kingsley) at 23:27 via seated sleeper hold, 63%
Elliot Kingsley & Minehito Kono met and lost to Phil Fernandez & Miguel Ozuna once before
Elliot's overly quick tags exposed Kono, while Phil and Miguel worked well as a team nailing a number of hard hitting double team moves.

Match 5: Alfredo Alvarez def. Targa Mishi at 11:23 via Top Rope Headbutt, 78%
Big Fred wears Targa like a fucking hat. A brief, brave late rally from Targa was to no avail, Fred looked simply monstrous HOSSLY! The men continued brawling after the bell.

Main Event: Naoki Masayuki def. Kozuki Shiimosa & Michael Becker & Tarozaemon Tsuda at 24:50, 89%
Naoki elim. Tsuda via German Rush
Naoki elim. Becker via Strikes
Naoki def. Kozuki Shiimosa at 24:50 via German Rush, 89%
In a breakout performance one half of the tag champs eliminates every single other competitor! The titanic showdown between the last two men in the ring was suitably epic.

Overall Show Quality: 84%

What I did for the last 4 way match was a bit janky but I'll probably do it again:
The first two out simply get counted as a loss for those guys. (1pt)
The "runner-up" gets counted as a draw (provided he had at least one elimination) (2pts)
The winner gets a W. (3pts)

RULES UPDATE

Hi All, some of you guys update your edits regularly, some very irregularly and some barely at all.

Please take a look at the points and standings thread:
http://www.fpwarena.com/forum/viewtopic ... =235#p4879

Spend your points (or tell me what you are saving them for if you have over 15 and do not want to spend - I don't want people stalling by saying they are saving with nothing concrete in mind), pick your attires and moves etc. and give me any logic guidance.

I really enjoy running a fed but NuVu is in danger of just dying through lack of involvement (there are some exceptions, thank you! (you know who you are))

I know real life intrudes and I know some of you run your own feds, but at the same time I'm sure you can find 10 - 15 minutes a month for NuVu. Some people have been out of touch for 6 months or more

As I said right up front I want NuVu to be competitive and that means edits not lagging behind or being left unloved and uncared for.

What I'll do from now on is on the 1st of every month (starting July) I'll just go ahead an update any edits choosing moves and spending points as I see fit. It's too much work to do what I did previously i.e. write it all up and give notice of what's going to happen if I hear nothing, let everyone know that, then put it all into effect if I hear nothing. So I'm taking a harder line... stay in touch or get your picks and points spent for you. :violin:

If you go 3 months without any contact (unless by prior arrangement) then I'll try and find someone to take your edits over permanently or take them over myself.

Thanks for your time.

Great show TMC!

Spoiler: show
Shiimosa really lariated the snot out of Becker though, ironic that Becker just hit some big moves to both of the other guys before Tsuda finished them. Hmm, might be a friendly rivalry or a team-up proposition to come from that.

A successful debut for Shakes who is sure to be a force to reckon with in NuVu!

Match 2: Michael Becker (& Claus Eurhoffen) def. Minehito Kono (& HANSAMU) at 17:53 via Dragon Suplex CRITICAL! 85%
A nasty landing right on his head and neck gives Kono a stinger and sees Sky Blue <3 off to a shaky start!

Match 3: Sanjiro Katashi def. Miguel Ozuna at 13:39 via small package, 68% (Block A)
A truly dominant performance from Katashi potentially ushers in a new period of success for him

Match 4: Daiji Shimazaki def. Targa Mishi at 15:12 via Ki-Krusher '99, 80% (Block A)
Targa takes a disgusting bump on the outside from which there was no coming back. The Light-heavyweight League picture now looks like this:

A great brawl between these two, it's a wonder that the ring is still standing!

The British Kingsley celebrates the London Olympics with his new finisher getting him the W. Could this be the beginning of a rise to prominence for Kingsley?

Main Event: Tarozaemon Tsuda (& Kozuki Shiimosa) def. Goro Hamada (& Naoki Masayuki) at 26:26 via backdrop, 84%
Tsuda shows the world that he is no weak link as he recaptures the titles... but the Power Generation still have a rematch claus of their own.
